Officials at the CTIA event have hailed the strong performance of the wireless industry during the economic downturn.
CTIA - The Wireless Association has expressed optimism about the future performance of the industry, despite the current problems in the global economy.
Steve Largent, president and chief executive of the organisation, said the wireless sector is vibrant and continuing to experience growth.
Speaking at this week's CTIA conference in Las Vegas, he described the industry as a "shining light" amid the current economic gloom, reports Mobile Marketer.
The comments were echoed by CTIA chairman Robert Doston, who said the industry's continued growth suggests the future will be brighter and more prosperous.
"I am incredibly optimistic about the future of our industry," he stated.
"Ours is an industry that shapes tomorrow and wireless embodies America's can-do spirit, which will move our nation forward."
Mr Dotson added that he feels fortunate to work in a sector which has excellent prospects.
The comments follow estimates from Isuppli, which suggest that by 2012, global sales of mobile internet devices could be eight times higher than the amount recorded in 2007.
